This book is fantastic. I think some of the poor reviews are from people who read this expecting something entirely different. The BDSM elements were very emotional and loving. No humiliation, excess pain, sharing, etc. Just some light bondage and spanking, along with a thorough exploration of the reasons people might find this type of love fulfilling. Very well written.

I enjoyed Passion but resisted buying this book because of the mixed reviews and description of patience's lover being her brother-in-law. I don't want to read a love story involving someone committing adultery. He's not. He's the unmarried brother of her sister's husband.

Also as far as dom-sub themes go I found this one rather tame and thoroughly enjoyable and definitely HOT! If u find the idea of being spanked at all intriguing, read this book. I didn't like that he didn't fess up to a few underhanded things he did to try to win her attentions, but in the end I could live with the way it all eventually gets resolved. Both characters were very lovable.

If you want some very very very explicit sex scenes-this is for you. I personally found the whole, men are meant to dominate and women yearn to be dominated as is their rightful condition pretty obnoxious and wholly unappealing. I'm all for submission in roles going both ways but this goes into domination exists because gender roles demand it and so on. I didn't care for it.
It is an exact copy of the first one with slight changes this author writes fairly well but this is just porn . What totally killed it for me was the heroine crying throughout every second page every love scene every time oh and did i tell you she cried or nearly cried or wet her eyes with tears or cried and cried some more oh yeah and she cried again , i think she may have possible cried a river the possibly and in closing i would like to mention she cried a lot a lot a lot cried cried cried and cried some more!
I loved the first book - "Passion," there was no doubt that Mark and Passion loved each other but "Patience" on the other hand, i have to question whether or not Matt and Patience are in love. I do not mind BDSM but on a virgin? I dont know if i liked that. There was too much of that in the story by the way and if the author thought that was a way to show their growing love, i didnt buy it. I felt like Matt was brainwashing Patience into molding her into the woman he wanted her to be. And why was there so much concentration on Patience submitting than Matt handling his scandal? And what happen to Patience's cousin Charlotte? I wonder how she survive the scandal but there was no mention or did I skip it? I'll admit there were times were i just skimmed which is not a good sign.
There are 28 chapters in this book and i only enjoyed the last 6, i thought finally were are getting somewhere (and Matt was finally losing his control) and then it was over too quickly.
Overall it was more of a frustrating read than anything and sadly the emotional depth i found in 'Passion' was missing here. I will however, read the third book in the series when it finally comes out and i hope to find some closure there.

I read Ms.ValDez's fyrst book Passion and I was enthralled, so thankfully this one was out, at first I was not sure, but I tell you the truth, this book gave everything you want in a good erotic romance (well written erotica) with a story so lovely it made you laugh it made you cry, yes cry. I don't know why MS.Valdez does not write more books or faster, but the fact is, when people discover the yummy hero's and heroines and a loves story (both)that is scorching and well written. She will push through and give us the 3rd book that has been pushed further back than the fall release. I for one cant wait, and now I am trying to find the teaser from Prim's book. (erotic rating 1-5. Blazing hot 5 w/o being slimy. But if you are a prude (works for some) this might give you a heart-ATTACK.
Just finished reading Patience **CAUTION** IF YOU FIND DOM.SUB-BDSM OFFENSIVE YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS BOOK I was not aware of the previlace of this element in the book and the latter is not a part of my personal habits but I liked this story for what if offered explicit sexual interaction, a bit of romance ( according to some reviewers none); quite a bit of humor i.e. Aunt Matty, Lord Asher and his brother, and the love and loyalty of family! I was a bit disappointed that more time was NOT given to Matt's self discovery since this aspect was only give 2 or 3 pages, and little time spend on how or why Matt developed or discovered his particular sexual interests, thus the 4 stars rather than 5 star rating. I also thought the price, set by the publisher by the way, rather than for a version was a bit too much. Yes, I had to suspend some of my own prefrences and logic but one has to do that which most fiction whether a book or movie. THIS IS EROTICA, SEXUALLY EXPLICIT AND THIS ISN'T WHAT SOME ONE MIGHT DEEM A TRADITIONAL OR TYPICAL "ROMANCE" SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE LATTER I SUGGEST THAT YOU READ SOMETHING ELSE BUT IF YOU ENJOY "EXPLICIT EROTICA WITH A BIT OF A "DIFFERENT" SLANT I THINK THAT YOU WILL ENJOY THIS BOOK.
I read the first book Passion. It was very erotic. The characters seemed developed. There is Passion, a widow with a husband who under-appreciated her and Mark was a man who could discern. I do admit, Mark did engage in bed sport, but we'd like to believe that in Passion he was enthralled by her innocence, whereas the other girls were just women to him.

Matthew is not his brother. He's shallow, but interested in Patience. I don't know if Ms. Valdez didn't want him to come off as a jerk, but his motives for wanting Patience seemed without merit. He totally lost me in the first pages, because I understood Mark and Passion's meeting and why it went so far, but I think the writer needed to flesh Patience and Matthew out. In real life too, would a brother-in-law and sister-in-law want to create bad blood by hooking up with each other. Mathew especially is growing through some heavy stuff, that I hoped would make him less randy goat and more thoughtful businessman. It would have been a great time for a slow-burning friendship leading to love.
