I'm a teenager and yes I read romance novels because they are of course the perfect story. I don't read them for the sex. While reading this I was however shocked by the sex. It was unexpected because it was written by "Mia". I would not recomend this book for people under the age of 15, because it may scar you. Also in the last Princess Diaries Mia did allude to writing a book with sex in it. Hello? Wasn't it expected? Whatever it was more graphic than I expected it to be, but who cares? I got over it. I did think it was a great way to introduce teen girls to the wonderful world of Romance novels :). Similar to Cabots early novels-which I LOVE by the way, why did she stop?- Lady of Skye was a favorite of mine. Okay to the book.
It was about a 17 year old girl who kidnaps a wealthy "traveler" to raise money for hops for her pregnant sister, so her sister can get married. And you can figure out the rest. This was a great book. Just read it. And if you're a prude please get over it. That is all I have to say.

So the book was a good read but it was not the great that I was hoping for so it was just a tad disappointing.
I only bought this as a fan of the Princess Diaries series, but thoroughly enjoyed it for the fun story itself.
I was really looking forward to this book, due to the fact Meg Cabot was writing it in Mia Thermopolis' name. It is a great book, but I was dissapointed in not really having more of Mia's personality, views, and attitude come into play. Great book, just not what I expected.
I would recommend this, and it was a good read. I liked this book a lot blah blah blah .
I really enjoy Meg Cabot's writing. I hate to put her books down. This one was a bit more graphic than I like. Otherwise, it was good.
Princess Mia's first book is a standard, formulaic historical trash romance novel with the spunky outsider female who kidnaps a handsome returning knight, only to fall for him. The trashy escapism is marked by its distinctly (and uniquely for the genre) good writing. The mysterious twists and engaging stock characters are, though predictable, enough to make the pages fly by. Best of all, Mia has donated her author proceeds to Greenpeace. So, for a good cause, fall into a well-written, steamy trash novel. Grade B+
Interesting take on a medieval story that "Princess Mia Thermopolis" has been writing for her senior project. A bit "racier" than Meg Cabot's other Princess Diaries books, so keep that in mind if buying it for your child to read.
