First off I'm beginning all this with how much I love Silver! Most of these stories are of girls who are whiney and have literally no backbone this is not the case with Silver shes is one tuff cookie! That made this a 5star book just with her character!

Kirk.. He grew on my like mold.. I just couldnt help but fall in love with him too.

I'm a huge fan of kidnapping sex slave dark stories so this was quite a treat because this story was a bit predictable but that didn't bother me I was very happy with the pace and way the story formed. Now there are MANY MANY trigger warnings so if your not a fan of rape.. Kidnapping..murder..kinkiness or abuse this book is NOT for you. But if your willing to take a chance you will not be sorry..

Wow! And just wow. Hot, disturbing and interesting!

Skye Callahan doesn’t hold anything back in her stories. You want twisted? You want dark? You want heart wrenching? You want the possibility of romance? Read this book. It is book one in the Serpentine series or the Irrevocable Duet. (There seems to be some name changing going on with this book.) It is a dark romance that makes your skin crawl and makes you wonder about each character.

One young woman has her identity taken from her, so she creates a new one, she becomes Silver. In a world of sex, lies and pain there is survival and growth and maybe even love. Kirk is a Dom Master. He is not looking for a sub but he finds one in Silver. There is just something about these two that draws them to each other. Kirk has a secret that may destroy everything he and Silver have been building together.

I loved how Silver is a super strong character. She is in a heartbreaking, terrifying situation with no hope of getting out, but she learns a few things for her survival. I loved the twists and turns and the fast paced action through-out the story.

“I felt completely alone with no one to talk to about my feelings, to ask if I was really doing the right thing. I had to look inside myself for those answer, and it terrified me.”

I can only recommend this story to those with an open mind and strong stomach. This story includes human trafficking and violence and may even include triggers for those with abusive pasts. For everyone else hang on! I can only hope book 2 is just as good!

My first book from this author and it definitely will not be my last!
This book is written very well, the slow burn in the plot was ingenious. Twists and turns with no predictability.
There is nothing soft and fluffy when you’re reading this book it’s amazing and dark, disturbing yet hot! A fast paced storyline, that from the first page it’s like being thrown in the deep end of the pool, you either sink or swim your way through page after page…..”You’ll be swimming”
Imagine waking to numerous hands upon my body, cloudy brain feeling as though you must fight for your life, feeling the results of the intense brutality upon your body……that’s what life as a kidnapped woman feels like.
Silver must learn to bend and not break and hopefully Kirk her new Master will be able to help her to bend.
The moments within this story have you wanting Silver to fight, yet you don’t want her to suffer. The events Silver must endure are intense, the emotional tug a war. If you are a lover of the dark reads, then do not hesitate and grab this book and let it consume you!
James/Kirk and Rose/Silver meet when Rose awakens surrounded by men tearing her clothes off, groping and beginning a sexual assault on her. Just when Rose knows there is no hope, Kirk walks in on the assault and puts a stop to it, immediately. She perceives his power, rolling off him and naively believes she's been spared only to discover she has gone from the frying pan into the fire.
Rose is stripped of everything that is hers, including her identity and is forced to choose her new name, Silver. She's informed she will become a sex slave and Kirk will be her new master. The story is brutal and difficult to imagine anyone how anyone can survive such an ordeal without breaking the soul.
This story is not for the faint of heart and has graphic violence that's truly hard to read. It makes you route for Silver at every turn. When she panics and attempts to flee she, of course, is caught and punished by being whipped. It is written to describe the event including every horrific, graphic detail.
Just when you believe Kirk is the devil himself, he breaks character just long enough to whisper an entreaty to Silver in the midst of her whipping. It comes just as she is about to be broken and Kirks whispers, "Bend, don't break!" which gives her just enough to hold on through the worst of it.
Kirk is a multifaceted character whom I suspected early on had something innately good lurking under the hard as steel exterior. He does some subtle things to keep Silver safe and protected in an impossible situation and I found myself liking the devil himself. Though I would have loved more of this story because it seemed rushed at the end, it didn't detract from my love for this story.
Skye Callahan is brilliant. She has written compelling, steamy, sexy characters and a page turner from start to finish. Be warned though that it is difficult to read at times due to the graphic scenes, but if you don't mind the violence, which may cause triggers in some, it is sublimely written and thoroughly enjoyable.
To cover the horrid ordeal of human trafficking maybe it shouldn't lean on the light side at all because there truly are people living this every day and probably much closer than we know. So, if you prepare yourself for the brutality the story won't disappoint. Skye Callahan, Kudos, you are a brilliant writer and I loved this story!
